Blood Bowl

GW are releasing Blood Bowl again and that game are one of my favourite games of all time. I have played it so many times with different teams over the years. If memory serves its a awesome game to play.
I used to play Blood Bowl when I hadn't time for fantasy or other games that took a long time play or play a game with non gamer friends back in the days, so this is a must buy.

So in the box there will be humans and orcs so I will probably play humans in the first league at my local store. The miniatures look so much better then they did in the erlier releases, snap-fit are greate for non hobbyists.
The game board is double sided, a human  filed and an orc field, that's a nice touch, the same goes for the dugouts. The rules should be the same as before with some minor changes and that's good and bad I guess, but in the whole it shouldn't be a problem. There is allot of randomness in the game, if you don't like that, this game isn't for you.

Im not painting the humans as the Reikland Reavers, I thought that I would resurrect an old team name from the past, Nachthafen Bloods. The team is made up by Sylvanian petty nobles that want to impress their lords and lady's so they can get the kiss and live forever. The peasants are to underfed to play any sports game so they all are petty nobles.

The team I really want to play is the Dark Elves, they have a play style I like more then the humans. The rules for them will be out with the Death Zone book that also will be released with the BB box, but the miniatures I have to wait for. I haven't found my old models I used in the past, not a big loss when you look at the new minis GW puts out today.

Teams I have played in the past...

...Naggaroth Patriots - Dark Elves - Black & Purple
With these guys I won a League, I had a really good season with few deaths and injuries and when you have that going for a elf team they get really good.
I used the New England Patriots logo and changed the hat so it looked as an Dark Elf helmet and switch the colours, plus that I added an elf ear to the logo.

...Kings Glade Monarks -  Wood Elves - Green & Gold
I didnt win the league with this team but I had so much fun with it, the Treeman became a beast at the end and my wardancers were hard to stop. The only problem with Wood elves for me was the low armour value, the get injured and dies pretty easy compared to other teams, but hey they got wardancers.
The logo for them was an oak tree with a golden crown on it.

...Nachthafen Bloods - Humans - Black & Red
Unfortunately the league died out before we could finish it, I did ok with them, the most fun with them were the back story I came up for them (read above). WE made up funny storys when they failed stuff and so on as we played, that were alot fun, so I probably will paint the humans as Nachthafen Bloods.
This teams logo is really simple, I used the red blood drop transfer from the Blood Angel transfers sheet on black armour.

D&D Demogorgon

Our DM asked me if I wouldn't mind a bit of a spoiler regarding our Out of the Abyss campaign. He handed me this large Demogorgon miniature he wanted to be painted and fast because we  would run in to this demon pretty soon.
So the method of painting had to be dry brushing and shading, I did some details but mostly I dry brushed the miniature. Instead of following the painting guide you can find online which is displayed on the box, I went with the artwork of Demogorgon that can be found on the cover art of the Out of the Abyss campaign book.

Skeleton Warriors

The first ten skeletons are done, I went with the classical colour scheme for my undead force. The shields are some old Tomb Kings shields which I liked  but now when they are discontinued I have to mix with the regular undead shields.

The banner is not finished, I need to come up with a motif for it. So far I thinking a leaf less tree, sword, batwing or a castle. Well I'm in no rush to get it done right now. I have both of the get the started boxes for the undead and two morghast archai's to paint.

I choosed to paint my skeletons in a more white"

Bones
1. Skavenblight Dinge

2. Stormvermin Fur
3. Karak Stone
4. Screaming Skull
5. Terminatus Stone

Spirit Hosts

I bought the get started boxes for the Grand Alliance Death boxes for Age of Sigmar and I might have bought too many miniatures at once. I didn't touch the boxes for the first two weeks but I finally cracked one opened and I have painted the spirit Hosts.

Painting these miniatures was almost ridiculously easy, the bases took longer time to do. I went wit the easiest way I could find and I found it in White Dwarf 32, september 6th 2014.

1. Prime white
2. Nihilakh Oxide
3. White skull on raised areas

The cobblestones on the bases was made with green stuff and it's really easy, you can find I guide to it here. For the leaves I used dried birch tree seeds and I painted them orange and the I shaded them with Reikland Flesh.

Terrain - Ruined house

I have forgotten to post the finished ruined house.  I did skip the detailing on the inside of the house to get it done. I used wall filler to make the dirt on the floor and then I mixed old flock with PVA glue to add some more texture to it.
When it comes to painting I used Steel legion drab as base paint for the walls and then I mixed in screaming skull to it in two stages. The darker areas are just Army Painter Strong tone, the moss is two olive green colours that is stippled on.
The roof did take a while to do, the reason is is that I made the tiles a lot smaller then I did on the tower so the cutting it out took ages. Painting it I used deeper red colour and washed it down wit strong tone and then drybrushed it it up with the base colour.
The wood is painted with Dryad Bark, washed with strong tone and then I added light grey to the dryad bark for a layer of drybrushing.

Cold One Knight Completed

I finally got the Cold One Knight test miniature done, I'm satisfied with him, but I might change the purple/pink colour on the cloth on future miniatures. My idea was to have only cold colours on the knight, but I ended up with this purple instead.

Dark Elf Cold One

I got the idea to get in to Age of Sigmar a while ago and I started to paint my Dark Elves Corsairs, I have a lot of old fantasy armies or half sized armies laying around. So I went through my stash of plastics and I found five cold one knights I got from eBay a long time ago and I got the urge to paint them. Plus that I have already painted some corsairs in the past and I have more Dark Elves (Exiles) laying around that I will use for a AoS force.
So my thought was that I should use my "old" Dark Elves for Age of Sigmar, but they are on square bases, so after calculating how much I would have to spend on bases I was rethink my first choice, now I'm thinking of getting in to the Death faction instead, they are in the coming new Realm Gate Wars so they will have the round bases in the box and I always liked undead.
Yes, I know I don't have to get the round bases, but miniatures do look better on round bases in my opinion. But that don't stop me from painting the dark elves I already got, so here is my first cold one;

Painting the scales
1. Incubi Darkness
2. Nuln Oil
3. Thunderhawk Blue (Dry brush)
4. Fenrisian Grey (Dry brush)

Painting the Belly
1. Sotek Green
2. Temple Guard Blue
3. Temple Guard Blue 1:1 White Scar
4. Temple Guard Blue 1:3 White Scar (Edges only)

Regarding the base, I'm not happy with it, I'm thinking to make a purple black/grey rocky base instead of snow bases for my Dark elves, time will tell...

Terrain - Ruined house WIP

Long time since I posted anything on this blog, I have been using Instagram to share my hobby instead of this blog. But I have been painting  and building terrain these past months and  sitting down and write up a post and add pictures  hasn't been top of my list.

Anyway, my latest terrain piece I have been working on is this ruined house, I was inspired by the PC game Mordheim, which I have been playing since it was released. So I was inspired by the game, ruined houses looks great and now when I play AoS and don't have block formations on the table I wanted to build a terrain piece that is usable as cover terrain for AoS and Mordheim.

The material I used were foamboard, coffee stirs, wall filler, sand, cardboard and matches and all is glued together with PVA glue and glue gun. So this is a WIP post, so the piece isn't painted yet but the build is, so enjoy.
